TikTok has proven time and time again its power to transform normal, everyday people into household names. And this one deserves all the hype. No, we’re not talking about Alix Earle or any other hot girl that has risen to fame through get-ready-with-me and clothing hauls. This TikToker has created his own genre of comedy while also doing food reviews of his favorite aquatic delectable, octopus. Jake Shane, better known as @Octopusslover8, has taken the app by storm and we are loving it.
Pass that puss! Tents up! These are some of his catchphrases you’ve probably been hearing all over campus or subconsciously saying to yourself all day. Or maybe you’ve been forced by a friend to learn his original dance to the TikTok sound “Seen your post her bm” by ItzJaelo or the “I know it won’t work” by Gracie Abrams remix. Both are worth checking out or dueting but don’t forget the iconic facial scowl that must be worn during the dance. Jake also often posts content of him off one too many edible gummies and his neurosis that ensues after. He’s just like us!
His relatability exudes from his videos, especially his better-known ones of him inaccurately reenacting historical moments with a modern-day twist. While the videos themselves are hilarious and sure to have you giggling under your covers until 2 a.m., the best part is arguably his roommates attempting to hold back their laughter as they record. If you don’t know the videos were referring to some examples include “George Washington finding out Benjamin Franklin is on the $100 bill,” “Mary telling Joseph she’s pregnant,” and “The town gossiping about Romeo and Juliet” just to name a few. If you’re wondering where he gets these bizarre ideas, they mostly come from his fans in the comment section creating an inside joke we’re all in on.
But the mystery of Jake Shane isn’t his hilarious humor, taste for octopus, or who the chuckling roommates are in the back of his videos. It’s his discrete celebrity ties. Shane can be seen in a few of Olivia Jade’s old youtube videos. If you don’t know who Olivia Jade is, first of all, you’re living under a rock. She’s a beauty and lifestyle YouTuber, who became infamous for her involvement in the college admissions scandal. Yes, Aunt Becky’s daughter. Not only Olivia Jade though, but Shane can also be seen hanging with nepotism baby Sofia Richie. How does he know these people you may be asking yourself? We don’t know! Maybe attending USC for college just means you’re friends with celebrities all of the sudden? Jake keeps quiet when asked about these connections in the comments but as his following grows it’s becoming less and less strange to see him posting content with our favorite celebs.
