It feels as though the only names we have been hearing in the political world have been Joe Biden and Donald Trump for far too long. For the next campaign season, though, we seem to be ushering in a new group of candidates. From long-time politicians to green business-savvy authors, this new group is sure to shake things up.
On the Republican Side:
Nikki Haley
Haley is the former governor of South Carolina, as well as former United Nations ambassador under the Trump administration. She is running on the platform of being the daughter of immigrant Indian parents and ushering in a “new generation of leadership.” In 2021 she founded Stand for America, an advocacy group that promotes conservative ideals and candidates.

Vivek Ramaswamy
Ramaswamy has not held an elected position. Instead, he spends his time writing “anti-woke” novels and starting biotech companies such as Roivant Sciences and Sio Gene Therapies Inc. Running on a platform of anti-wokeness, Ramaswamy seeks to do things such as end affirmative action, wage war on Mexican drug cartels and limit ESG requirements for businesses.

Asa Hutchinson
Hutchinson brings a lot of experience to the table as a former two-term governor of Arkansas who also spent time at the Department of Homeland Security and Drug Enforcement Administration. He is one of the few conservative candidates to openly denounce Trump, and he even spoke out against his candidacy in the 2020 election. He is running on the platform of cracking down on drugs — especially methamphetamines — strengthening abortion laws and supporting same-sex marriage.

For the Democrats:
Marianne Williamson
Williamson has unsuccessfully ran for several elected positions, however she has always given her opponents a run for their money. Known for her bestselling novels, close relationship with Oprah Winfrey and self-help lectures, Williamson brings a refreshing new background to the race. She has done a lot of work helping with the battle against AIDS, creating a non-profit called Project Angel Food to help those with AIDS who cannot leave their homes. Her platform is anti-corporate, with an emphasis on universal healthcare coverage and less pesticide use. She has also been attempting to create the Peace Alliance to moderate foreign policy.

While Joe Biden has yet to officially announce his bid candidacy for the 2024 election, it is believed he and Donald Trump will be butting heads on the campaign trail once again. As we get closer to the primaries, it is sure that this list will continue to grow with both well-known politicians and some newer people throwing their hats in the ring.
