Love is handing someone a gun pointed at your heart with the trust they won’t set it off. It can teach us how to grow with others in new ways and change our world perspective. We hesitate to allow ourselves to be vulnerable out of the fear of loss, rejection, and heartbreak. It is the wildest yet the most tender emotion that can change drastically, and the thought of giving away something so fragile can seem reckless or even a waste of time.
It doesn’t just have to be love, even simply caring about someone will never be a waste. Not everything is meant to last and just because the outcome wasn’t what you expected does not mean it was a loss of time or effort. The truth is love is one of the humanities greatest experiences but a lesson as well. Regardless of whether it’s a short fling or a lifetime relationship, it teaches us about connections, trust, and growth.

The Value of Vulnerability
Relationships differ from friendships because you express your heart and soul to someone who impacts it most. It consists of deep conversations that stretch into the late hours of night filled with things that only make sense to share with them. When that connection ends you can feel stupid for opening up too much but it couldn’t be further than that.
Letting your guard down is an incredibly brave thing to do. You allow the possibility of being hurt in exchange for a stronger connection with someone. Heartbreak is always possible, everyone knows that but it allows us to experience one of the most profound human experiences. Looking back you can regret what you said, but remember why you did it then, do you regret those feelings?

Learn about ourselves
When we love someone we not only learn about them but ourselves as well. The give and take brings out the parts of us that are more patient, understanding and mindful of our actions. Seeing how others treat us and how we respond to it teaches us the importance of communicating clearly and our wants and needs in a relationship. This helps us become the lovers that we want in return.

Unconditional Feelings
One of the greatest gifts that comes with loving someone is accepting who they are without the promise of change. You can not mold anyone to be your perfect partner, so growing and communicating alongside them teaches the importance of accepting someone for who they are. Unconditional love allows us and the other person to be comfortable and safe with one another, and this act of accepting builds our empathy and understanding.

Nobody ever said getting over someone is easy. When all is said and done and it can feel like you were taken for granted. Do not let someone take your kindness and twist it into anything but. As long as you love the way you would want to receive remain proud of your maturity and vulnerability.
Take these memories and instead of blocking them out remembering teaches us those lessons we need to carry forward in order to foster a better connection the next time. It is one of the most beautiful aspects of human existence that brings forth unique and authentic emotions. Getting over someone the hurt will definitely linger, but like anything else, it will pass. If you ever question if your love was a waste, it never is.
