Instagram Accounts That Will Actually Make You Feel Good

Social media has definitely changed throughout the years. What was once a fun way to share pictures and communicate with friends has transformed into a full-time job for people. Social media can get quite the bad rep nowadays. Instagram, for example, is used by one billion people every month. It’s no wonder how easy it is for the app to become toxic, causing users to constantly compare themselves to the hundreds of people in their feed.

However, this doesn’t mean that every aspect of social media is bad. In fact, there are many accounts that can actually brighten your day as you give the post a like instead of scrolling by. When thinking about the amount of content we are exposed to daily, it’s incredibly important to try our best to view media that makes us feel happy and inspired, instead of bringing us down.

Here are seven Instagram accounts that will actually make you feel good about yourself — go and give them a follow!

@morganharpernichols

This account posts beautiful artwork and inspiring words that are so raw and real. One of the most unique aspects of Morgan’s Instagram is that the stunning words she writes are based on the stories people send her. Whether you are struggling and need support, or you are celebrating a new phase of your life, you can send in your story and see what kind of art is created out of it.

@enneagramandcoffee

This account is kind of like reading your horoscope, but instead, it’s tailored to your enneagram (personality) type. Sarajane, the owner of the account, posts a multitude of funny and insightful images, describing how your specific personality might act in a situation. It can be entertaining, and even a sigh of relief, to know that you are not alone in how you behave and see the world.

@happsters

This account is one giant feed of pure positivity. With a mix of inspiration, self-care and funny memes, it’s hard not to smile looking at this page. Plus, the account posts a video or picture of a puppy every Friday — how much more convincing do you need?

@humansofny

Images are posted, as the account says, of humans in New York City. With each picture comes a caption that gives readers a glimpse into the life of a stranger you might have very well passed on the street. It’s comforting to read about the extraordinary and perhaps relatable life of an “everyday” person. Following this account can help to make the world feel a little bit smaller and more connected.

@celestebarber

It’s so easy to compare yourselves to others online. Whether it be the model’s account you are stalking or just a girl who goes to your school, it’s a dangerous and toxic trap to fall into. Celeste brings humor and light to the situation by copying pictures of celebrities and showing that these perfect images we see on social media are not real life.

@healthyisthenewskinny

Social media can be a great tool for motivation. There are hundreds of accounts that promote fitness and eating well. That being said, it’s important to follow people who lift you up and empower you, instead of making you feel guilty for not looking like a “typical fitness guru.” This account is perfect because it encourages women to strive to be strong, not skinny. The posts range from workout ideas and unedited pictures to empowering quotes and more.

@tanksgoodnews

It seems like the only news we hear today is negative. When you’re in need of change (and honestly, who isn’t?) this account has your content. Hearing about all of the incredible acts of kindness done by humans can show you that not all people are bad. In fact, most human beings are nice and wonderful, and this account is a great reminder of that.
