Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney’s History

During the filming and promotions for “Anyone but You,” Powell and Sweeney sparked dating rumors from their flirty chemistry both on and off set. Although Powell wasn’t publicly dating anyone, Sweeney was engaged to film producer Jonathan Davino during the movie’s filming.

While Sweeney and Powell have joked about the dating rumors, they also shut them down. During Sweeney’s “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut, she addressed the rumors by talking about how much she loves her fiancé, but the camera paned to Powell in the audience.

Although the rumors were a great promotion for the movie, Sweeney was serious that she was not having an affair with Powell.

“Anyone but You” Comparisons

Fans have noticed that reality has started to look just like the plot of “Anyone but You.” In the movie, Bea, who is played by Sweeney, splits from her fiancé and falls for Ben, who is played by Powell. On Mar. 31, it was confirmed that Sweeney and Davino split and called off their wedding. Ironically enough, the character that Bea was engaged to in the movie was even named Jonathan.

In “Anyone but You”, Bea and Ben officially fall in love with each other at a wedding at the end of the movie. Just a few days after announcing Sweeney’s split from Davino, Sweeney and Powell attended Powell’s sister’s wedding together.

There has been no confirmation that Sweeney and Powell are more than friends, but there’s no denying that there are plenty of parallels between reality and the movie that sparked their dating rumors in the first place.

Was It Just a Promotion Tactic?

We’re not completely crazy. Powell did admit he and Sweeney played into the dating rumors, but it was just to gain attention for the movie. Even still, two years ago and today, both Powell and Sweeney have said they are nothing but good friends and are not dating.

The dating rumors must have worked since “Anyone but You” has made over $200 million globally, according to Deadline, and fans are still talking about the movie and their relationship today. Are they still trying to promote the movie, or are they secretly dating?
