Spring 2019’s series of fall Fashion Weeks kicked off the season on Friday, Feb. 8 in New York City. The first in the tour of the world’s most bustling cities featuring the most incredible runway shows, New York Fashion Week was filled with feathers, fluff and frill. The rest of the Fashion Week locations followed suit, as designers debuted over-the-top pieces highlighting the upcoming fall season’s favorite trend.

Little-known Japanese dress and costume designer Tomo Koizumi started off the week with an elegant array of extravagant, colorful gowns. In layers upon layers of tulle, high profile models like Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski, and actresses like Rowan Blanchard stunned in Koizumi’s line. According to Harper’s Bazaar, the rookie designer was discovered only one month ago on Instagram.

Carolina Herrera’s fall 2019 line incorporates bright, lively colors that will carry the spirit of summer long into the winter months. Dresses in this collection feature a sweet mix of bubblegum and flamingo pinks, zesty oranges, canary and mustard yellows and a range of blues. Model Mayowa Nicholas was photographed behind-the-scenes of the show wearing a pink dress with layers of tulle and satin.

Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection kept things pretty neutral, but included grand, intricately designed dresses. A true modern wedding dress, everyone is saying “I do” to de la Renta’s one-shoulder feather gown. The late-designer’s official Instagram account posted a picture of the dress of February 12 saying, “Ethereal feathered frocks are a dream backstage,” and VALLEY couldn’t agree more. This dress is already so popular that acclaimed actress Lupita Nyong’o wore it to the 91st annual Oscars.

Designer Peter Pilotto’s Ready-to-Wear collection is full of sherbet-colored looks, and this trench combines Pilotto’s trend with a huge trend of the season: feathers. A furry peachy-patterned lapel with pinky-lavender feathers peeking out from underneath is both chic and guaranteed to keep you warm.

Moncler’s fall 2019 collection of puffer gowns in collaboration with designers Liya Kebede and Pierpaolo Piccioli may not have visible feathers, but it’s the inner poof that makes these gowns so elegant and unique. Moncler described the line of colorful and intricately patterned pieces as “couture that connects cultures” on their Instagram, as it is inspired by Ethiopian artisans.

Feathered accents are taking over and this sequined jumpsuit by Jenny Packham is no exception. Lavender feathers hang across the chest and sleeves of the piece as a simple and effective distraction from the rest of the flashy one-piece.

A brand that rose to fame for their modern streetwear, Off-White included a fuzzy hot pink teddy bear-style coat in their fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection. This coat is versatile and funky — it looks great on the runway and can be a staple stand-out piece for the everyday fashionista.

Lanvin’s fall 2019 collection featured looks with styles all across the board, but one calf-length coat stood out. Modeled in none other than Kaia Gerber, supermodel Cindy Crawford’s 17-year-old daughter, this plush coat features a unique vertical design in complimentary earthy shades of blue and green down its body and sleeves.
