It starts off simple, by brushing from the ends to the root. After that, here are the 11 steps:

Pre-Shower

Step 1: Pre-Shampoo Bond Repair Treatment, apply at least 10 minutes before washing or applying any other products, 1-2x a week

Step 2: Pre-Shampoo Oil Treatment, apply at least 20 minutes before washing for damaged hair prone to dryness and tangling

In-Shower

Step 3: Clarifying Shampoo, use at least once a week

Step 4: Non-Clarifying Shampoo, use as many times per week as needed

  • Medicated Shampoos (OPTIONAL), use as needed to prevent itching, irritation and flaking

Step 5: Bond Repair Treatments, use once a week or more as needed

Step 6: Conditioning Part 1 – Glosses, use at least one conditioning product everytime you wash your hair. If needed, use more than one in the same wash (Ex. gloss + conditioner, gloss + mask, conditioner + mask)

Conditioning Part 2 – Conditioner

Conditioning Part 3 – Hair Masks

Post-Shower

Step 7: Post-Wash Bond Repair Treatment, apply post-wash and wait 10 minutes before applying any other product, 1-2x a week

Step 8: Leave-in Conditioner & Heat Protection, apply liberally post-wash, every wash day

Step 9: Styling, completely optional

Step 10: Style Sealers Part 1 – Serums (OPTIONAL)

  • Style Sealers Part 2 – Lotions/Creams (OPTIONAL)
  • Style Sealers Part 3 – Oils (OPTIONAL)

BETWEEN-WASH

Step 11: Conditioning Treatment or Oil

  • Heat Protection

The Over-Consumption of It All

It’s no secret that this routine is immensely expensive, but there are also so many new products to add to your space. There are ways to simplify this routine, like taking products out if your hair doesn’t need them, but overall, it’s up to the consumer to decide. Abbey has posted numerous videos on her TikTok with 2.2 million followers on how to minimize the routine and keep it somewhat budget-friendly.

But What If My Hair is Different?

Abbey’s hair is long, thick and shiny, but not everyone is blessed with this kind of hair. Some women and men have lower porosity hair as opposed to the high porosity that Abbey has with thicker and luscious hair. Many TikTokers who are reviewing the routine have adapted the methods to their curly, wavy, damaged, frizzy hair along with numerous other types. So although you may have a different texture of hair, the routine has proved itself versatile.
