Fashion and film come together to provide viewers with the best of Vogue World 2025: Hollywood. On Oct. 26, Vogue World returned to the Paramount lot in Los Angeles. The night delivered some iconic recreations and displays of high-fashion, high-drama and some of our favorite Hollywood icons.
The event was organized into several chapters representing different genres in film (historical, sci-fi, etc.) and aesthetics (gothic, western, etc.). Every chapter was assigned an award-winning costume designer to display their work, alongside recreations of certain looks and pieces inspired by the films of that genre or aesthetic.
Models and stars alike walked the runway wearing a mixture of costumes, couture, archival looks and current runway clothing. The models were also joined by singers Doja Cat and Gracie Abrams, whose looks were also inspired by the night’s theme. It is also worth noting that 100% of the night’s ticket proceeds went to the Entertainment Community Fund, a charity that supports actors, writers and other creative workers in the film industry, with a special focus on costume designers impacted by the LA wildfires.
While it’s hard to pick just three acts to cover, let’s take a look at just a few of the many memorable looks!
Nicole Kidman as “Gilda”
Nicole Kidman opened up the show as Gilda, channeling Rita Hayworth from the 1946 film of the same name. She walked down the street in a recreation of Hayworth’s dress, while singing the iconic song from the movie called “Blame it on the Mame.” Her look was custom Chanel, along with Chanel fine jewelry. She was joined onstage by iconic movie director and producer Baz Luhrmann. He directed Kidman and interacted with the audience before introducing Kendall Jenner in an original look from “Moulin Rouge!” designed by Catherine Martin.
Act 1: Hollywood Glamour
The era that people commonly refer to as the “Golden Age” of Hollywood, known for its glitz and glamour. This was actually a period of innovation and transformation in fashion. This act was designed by the iconic Catherine Martin, who is also Baz Luhrmann’s wife. She designed the costumes for films such as “Moulin Rouge!” and “The Great Gatsby.” The Creative Director for this act was Miuccia Prada, the founder of Prada.
This act featured both original costumes from the fashion-forward films, as well as a collection of looks inspired by the flappers and showgirls of this era. Some amazing moments featured model Adut Akech in Daisy Buchanan’s original costume, actress Elizabeth Debicki in custom Miu Miu, actress Ayo Edibiri in Chanel and Kendall Jenner in an original “Moulin Rouge!” costume.
Act 2: The Renegades
Act 2 was led by costume designer Colleen Atwood and creative director Seán McGirr of Alexander McQueen. This theme was meant to represent the infamous rebels and “outcast” characters of films like “Edward Scissorhands” and “Alice and Wonderland,” in order to celebrate gothic and off-kilter styles. The second act of the show featured the original costumes from both of these films, as well as allusions to other quirky films like “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” This act was a love letter to our favorite misfits and their iconic clothing.
Some highlights of this section included model Anok Yai in a recreation of the Edward Scissorhands costume and model Amelia Grey in 2024 Courréges.
Iconic Characters
The last act, that was not exactly an act, was the addition of film history’s most iconic and recognizable characters featured throughout the entire show. This added a layer of nostalgia and whimsy to the show, as both in-person and online viewers are taken for a stroll down memory lane. Shirley Kurata was the assigned costume designer, most recently nominated for an Oscar for her work in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” She designed all 54 of the character’s looks, which were a mixture of vintage costumes and various runway looks.
A couple standout moments featured Marimar Cadenas in a 2025 Balmain look inspired by “Cleopatra,” Gaby Westbrook in a 2026 Stella McCartney look as Jessica Rabbit and Erik Rocca and Carolina Wallace in “Casablanca” inspired looks sourced by Warner Bros.
After reviewing some of the fabulous looks and themes from Vogue World 2025, it is safe to say that it did not disappoint. The night was full of movie magic and some of the very peak moments in fashion history. It is so incredible to see a show full of designs by people who love their craft and excel at what they do — it allowed the fashion to come to life.
