Let’s get this straight: women do not exist for the male gaze. Women shouldn’t be wondering how they’re going to do their makeup based on what men like. Or think about outfits they want to wear just to get some guy’s attention. That is the wrong mindset, but to all their own, of course.

How about what you actually like? A lot of fashion, makeup and even mindsets of women are “approved” or “disapproved” by the male community because it’s not what they find attractive or appropriate.
What does attractive or appropriate even mean, seriously? It’s the 21st century, so let’s update our thinking caps. Women shouldn’t be waiting to be judged through the male lens when it was never meant for them in the first place.
Don’t Change Yourself For A Man
If a man you like tells you that he is into redheads, that is not a sign for you to dye your hair red. If a guy doesn’t like your hair, that’s his problem; you shouldn’t feel the need to change yourself for someone else that it wasn’t meant for.
It’s time to start dressing for you and only you. Stop thinking about what’s trending or what guys are into these days. You should want someone to like you for being yourself, not for putting up a show for others that doesn’t resonate with you.
Social Media Influences This
Social media also plays a huge part in this because there are so many videos on TikTok, especially that say, “guys, what is the most attractive thing about a girl?” Girls are then looking through the comments at the men’s responses and might be thinking about what they can do so guys will like them.
It is hard to get away from social media when seeing this because there are so many creators who say what guys like and don’t like, and it can harm young girls. They should not be thinking about how they can improve themselves for men; it’s not healthy.
The Overall Message
The biggest takeaway from this is to be yourself and not concern yourself with how the male gaze tells you how you should be and act. Men should begin to understand that just because a woman wears a cute outfit to the club, she is not trying to get your attention; she just wants to feel hot with her girls.
Women just want to feel confident in what they wear and do. They just want to feel good about themselves without men thinking that everything a women does is for him. Let the girls do their thing.
