DWTS Fashion Earns A 10

“Dancing with the Stars” is a show that brings the glitz and glamor of ballroom dancing to live television. It is apparent that their creative team works overtime to design the most extravagant costumes for these couples.

While the best dances of the night might not always score a 10 from Carrie Ann, the fashion team and makeup artists earn it from the fans. The costumes this year especially have been hitting it out of the park. Witney Carson always looks illuminating in the sequins and fitted body suits that accentuate her figure.

Fans also appreciate whoever is deciding to dress Dylan Efron in those silk button-downs every other week. They know exactly who their audience is and that deserves applause in itself. After “Wicked” night, it is no question what his best color is.

The elaborate themes also help the creative visions prosper. Disney night let the imagination take over with bizarre makeup and costumes that brought the characters to life. Alix Earle absolutely devoured that “Maleficent” costume, although Jan should never be painted blue again.

VALLEY loves both fashion and DWTS. Let’s go over some of the best costumes that have hit the stage so far.

Ezra & Jordan

For dedication night, Ezra and Jordan performed a Viennese Waltz which incorporated Jordan’s father, to whom she dedicated the dance. Ezra’s shimmery, blush pink tux with the matching satin undershirt matched Jordan’s cross-highneck dress. There was beautiful flower detailing on the top that led into the skirt of the dress that moved with her throughout the routine.

Mark & Whitney

Tik-Tok night was fun and upbeat for the couples dancing. While Mark’s choreography and Whitney’s talent never fails to amaze the audience, their costumes made the dance even better. They performed a Samba to “Shake Ya Ass” and Whitney’s neon green fringe pants added everything to the routine. The two of them always look like they are having the most fun together on that stage.

Honorable mention to their costumes for their tribute to “The Room Where It Happens.” The femininity that they added to Whitney’s costume for an outfit meant to represent 1776 was impeccable. The original mix Mark made, his choreography and Whitney’s execution made that dance one that fans will watch over and over again.

Witney & Robert

Whether because Robert and Witney are one of the best looking couples this show has seen, or because the fashion team takes their time with them every week is not important. Regardless of that, Witney is always dressed so eloquently. Her outfit for their week two tango paired well with Robert’s dashing tuxedo. Fans also can’t forget about their routine for Tik-Tok night that broke the internet. Maybe the fashion team just needs to keep giving Robert less and less clothing to make their lives and the fans’ lives better.

Although she is not a dancer, Julianne Hough is always dressed to perfection. Her wardrobe team knows they need to distract the fans from her bad hosting with some beautiful gowns.

There are still many weeks left in this competition with themes that give the fashion department a lot to work with. While the talent of the dance is what fans and judges are voting on, the outfits elevate this show.
