Samantha Allen

Samantha Allen is the Editor in Chief of Valley magazine and is in her final year (bittersweet!). She's spent enough time in New York City to crave a Big Apple career but not enough to know what restaurants to recommend to inquiring foodies, which is sad. She's hoping to change that. Her interests include moderating her food website, converting people to eating the chicken and waffles with the gravy (it's like Thanksgiving dinner—who can argue?) and the occasional feature story in each semester's issue.

Relay For Life: Fighting Back with Cupcakes, Smiles and Luminaria

By Samantha Allen

Penn State’s Relay for Life this weekend was, as always, an amazing success. The event, which raises funds for cancer research and treatment year-round, takes no backseat to THON—it walks alongside it.

Cravings: What Your Body Is Really Telling You

By Samantha Allen

Every single one of us has had a moment when everything seems clear: we need something specific to eat. What that specific food is depends on us—for some, chocolate seals the deal, and for others Lay’s chips hit the spot.

Working Girls: The Pros and Cons of Working in School

The Best to the Worst Pick-Up Lines

By Samantha Allen

Every girl’s endured them, but only some of us are actually swooned by them. They can be found at every party and street corner, and some are wanted—others are not. What else could make or break a first impression than a pick-up line?

What We Don’t Miss About High School

By Samantha Allen

Movie culture preaches that high school is about falling in love with a next door neighbor, eating outside on the quad and answering your phone in the middle of a class because your BFF has gossip to spill about your arch enemy. Most likely, high school was never like that for any of us.
