Your Phone Needs a Sunday Reset Too

There is nothing we at VALLEY love more than a Sunday reset. An entire day dedicated to getting yourself back on track after whatever the past few days were. It brings us back to life. Deep scrubbing the bathroom, cleaning your sheets and grocery shopping for the week are all a part of the key players in fully resetting. But we think you might be missing one … something that might just be the most rewarding of all. A phone reset.

More Than What You Think

Now, we are not just talking about turning it off and turning it back on again. Trust us, it wouldn’t have worked no matter what you were trying to accomplish, those scary pics from the weekend will still be there when you turn it on. We’re talking about a deep clean of your phone. Quite literally going through all your apps and freshening them up!

This might take some time out of your day, especially if it’s your first time, but trust us when we say it will be well worth it.

Where To Start

There might be so many apps on your phone that you do not even know where to start. That’s okay, we’ll go through it together. First start by cleaning out your home screen. That photo editing app you haven’t opened since middle school? Delete it! That random app for school you need to have downloaded for a class? Move it to a folder. Go through each app and decide if you really need it or if it’s just taking up space. You can even move apps to hide from your home screen if you think you may need them in the future.

“What Time Is Your Mom Picking Us Up?” From 2011.

That feels good, doesn’t it? Okay, let’s keep it up. Open up your messaging app and start clearing those conversations from 2014. We promise the text from your eighth-grade crush saying they like you but also might have feelings for someone else is not something you need to treasure. Clear it! You’re only done when all that’s left is the important group chats and your everyday conversation friends.

While you’re at it with messages, hop into your email app and go crazy clearing out the thousands of spam emails you lost track of years ago.

Your One Hit Wonder That’s “Still in the Works”

Moving right along to your notes app. This is going to be a tough one. We understand if you want to keep the poem you thought of on your walk to class, we’re aware we might have the next Emily Dickinson reading this! But please, delete the grocery list from seven weeks ago. You’ll inevitably go down a loophole of reading each note, just embrace the walk down memory lane … and then delete it!

Brace Yourself

We’re coming up on the worst part of the clean-out, the camera roll. *Queue the sighs* If you’re like us and have every photo you’ve ever taken on there, it might be the hardest part yet. This doesn’t mean you can’t do it though. Scroll all the way up, either until you can’t anymore or your finger cramps up, it’ll probably happen simultaneously. Then, hit the ‘Select’ button and start clearing. We’ll see you in about an hour!

The Rest Is Smooth Sailing

If you’re still here, you did it, you’ve done a phone reset! With the energy you have left, go through any other miscellaneous apps that might need your attention. But, if you’re checked out, we totally get it, you did a lot today! Don’t be discouraged from this work … if you make this part of your Sunday routine, it will take not even a quarter of the time it did for the first one. So, keep it up, because your phone needs a reset too!
