You might have heard the name Benson Boone floating around from his most popular song, “Beautiful Things”, or maybe one of his many TikTok accounts has come up on your For You Page. Either way, Boone seems to be everywhere and fans seem to have mixed feelings about him.

Benson Boone’s Infamy

Infamous might be the perfect word to describe Boone. There is no doubt that he is a talented singer, but it’s his personality outside of music that people on social media seem to have a problem with.

His award show appearances have gone viral on social media for all the wrong reasons. First, it was his performance at the 2025 Grammys, where he adjusted the crotch of his blue unitard on live television. Then, his reaction at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards trended on TikTok where fans said he was “trying too hard.”

His stage presence and personality also play a huge part in his reputation. Boone always finds a way to incorporate some variation of a flip in his performances, and he has even been compared to Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco for the way he presents himself.

Maybe the internet has been too harsh on him. On April 21, Boone posted a TikTok where he responded to the unexpected hatred he’s received online.

“If you hate me or my music, at least have a good reason for it,”

Where did Benson Boone Come From?

It seems that Boone has already lived several lives despite only being 22 years old. Boone’s earliest appearance in the music world was on season 19 of “American Idol.” Although Boone was predicted to actually win the show, Boone left early to focus on his music career.

Boone later released his first single, “Ghost Town,” in October 2021, which has over 500,000 streams on Spotify. A few years later on June 23, 2024, Boone had the opportunity to open for Taylor Swift at the “Eras Tour” in London.

Benson Boone as of Recently

Regardless of the reasoning, the media’s attention has worked in favor of Boone. He recently performed “Bohemian Rhapsody” alongside Brian May, the original guitarist for Queen, at this year’s Coachella. Boone is also set to perform at more music festivals this summer.

Boone also recently released a new single, “Mystical Magic,” which is a part of his new album, “American Heart,” that will be released on June 20. Whether you like him or not, there’s no denying that Boone has taken over social media and the music world.
