Where To Look For The ’70s Look

The 1970s bloomed with a culture of creativity and expression in style and inspired many trends that still influence fashion today. Thanks to music festivals and celebrities, we see a revival of the iconic era’s inspiration. VALLEY is very ready for the three Fs of this resurgence: flare, fringe and fur.

Flare

Not only are we seeing more denim, but the bell-bottom style has returned. The super-wide ’70s flares are flattering and lengthening. Whether it’s the always trending high-waist look, the corduroy feel or the flowy culotte cut you can effortlessly put together a stylish outfit.

Charlotte Russe’s Medium Wash Flared Jeans and American Eagle’s ARTIST® Flare Jean will give you this sharp and trendy look for under $50. Tops and dresses have also embraced the bell-style sleeve.

Any look is not complete without shoes. Pair this piece with open-toe heels or flatform sandals. Steve Madden’s Recover flatform sandals have been popping up on campus for a fashionable night out.

We can thank celebrities like Bella Hadid for stepping out in this look recently. Sporting the playful pants in New York City only brought them back even more.

Fringe

Did you happen to see the Coachella lineup? While looking up the music festival, you will see that the Bohemian princess vibe would not be complete without the dangling tassels.

Vests and jackets with fringe are bold fashion statements, but that is not where it ends. A new popular trend of frayed jean bottoms is flooding our Instagram feeds.

Fringe in all varieties allows creativity and it zests up a plain outfit. Forever 21 has adorable Fringed Ankle Jeans in black and also cute fringed accessories like a fringed cropped cami and a suede fringe bag.

Fur

Want a killer piece that will get you a ton of compliments and have everyone petting your sleeve? Adding faux fur to any ensemble makes for a very boujee, ’70s look. Step out of your comfort zone this season and go for a nice furry coat or accent a cute sweater with a fur vest.

Get the super soft faux fur vest at Missguided in fun and playful colors, like pink! It is both fashionable and functional, keeping you warm throughout these final cold months.

VALLEY suggests you couple your fur with a pair of yellow tinted sunglasses, another upcoming trend, for a day affair. Urban Outfitters’ Yellow Lens Classic Aviator Sunglasses are an affordable way to rock this look.

The culture that was so full of individuality is back, so bust out those “mom jeans” and rework these time-tested trends into your 2018 wardrobe.
