The semester is winding down and the school year is coming to a screeching halt. For some, this time of year means summer is close, and another year is just on the horizon. But not for us seniors. Not only does this mark the end of the school year, but it also marks the end of our time here at Penn State. It’s bittersweet really.
With only a few weeks left, we need to find ways to make the most out of the little time we have left. How do I do that, you ask? With a senior year bucket list of course. Luckily for you, VALLEY has some suggestions. You may have your own bucket list that includes things like: One last DVSN at Champs, or the end of the year bar crawl. Rather, VALLEY will focus on more uncommon shenanigans.
Hiking Mount Nittany

With the weather getting nicer, it’s the perfect opportunity to get outdoors. Taking a day with your friends to hike up Mount Nittany will be a moment you’ll likely not forget. The hiking trails are laced with natural beauty and it’s enough of a challenge to give yourself a good workout. The cherry on top is the breathtaking view from the top of the mountain which overlooks the entirety of the campus. It’s as good a place as any to reflect on the time you spent growing and learning at Penn State.
Freshman Year Dining Hall Dinner

We all remember the dining hall food. Flips, Asia Market, Fresco and others have been there for us when we were at our hungriest. Many of us have moved on to bigger and better food options since the beginning of our journeys here, but it’s important to remember where you came from. One last dinner at the dining halls, for old times sake. You simply must experience that extraordinarily average cuisine just one more time.
Winning Cafe Bingo
Penn State’s favorite patio could have made this bucket list for a few reasons. 55 days of Cafe is what first comes to mind when you think of Cafe 210 West. While it may be their most famous challenge, it isn’t necessarily their hardest.

VALLEY felt it was more appropriate to include the B.I.N.G.O night that is held typically in the middle of the week. If you haven’t tried it, it’s highly recommended that you do. It’s a nice, chill night with your closest friends enjoying Cafe’s famous pitchers and some music. On top of that, you might win something, and wouldn’t that be an awesome memory to have?
Climbing the Old Main Bell Tower

Not many students realize that you can go into the Old Main Building. Moreover, even less realize that you can climb to the top of the bell and look out over the campus. The building has many offices and administrative quarters, so it’s in use much more often than you may realize.
Once inside the building, getting to the top is a little tricky because there are few odd twists and turns but it is very doable. The view from the top is certainly a sight to behold. Much like Mount Nittany, it looks out over the entire campus. The only difference is that you’re directly in the middle of the campus, instead of being a few miles removed. It’s an absolute must for your senior year send off.
Make the Most Out of Your Time

The truth is that your bucket list can consist of almost anything. It could be things like winning Pickles’s Trivia, having a Waffle Shop breakfast, or even visiting every campus building. What really matters is that you experience the things that are important to you, at least one last time.
