When it comes to ladies and their chests, there seems to be a sort of love-hate relationship.
“I wish I had a smaller bra size,” says sophomore Alex Pyles, “but girls are always coming to me saying they wish they were my size. They don’t understand that it’s – not to sound like a snob – actually a burden.”
Pyles doesn’t mean the it’s-so-hard-to-be-beautiful type of burden. What she’s talking about hurts.
“My lower back aches a lot,” she says, “it can get painful.”
Girls with this issue – know that you are not alone. For each woman trying to increase her chest size, there is one trying to decrease it. Wouldn’t it be great if we could evenly distribute the wealth? (Where are ya, Obama?)
While target weight loss and spot reduction is next to impossible, there are some things that big chested women can do to reduce back pain and tighten those sisters.
The Livestrong Foundation says that swimming is the best exercise to strengthen both the chest and back muscles, simultaneously tightening the chest and lessening back pain. Exercises such as chest presses and push-ups help to strengthen your chest muscles (the pectorals), too.
Our breast size represents a larger issue that has plagued women since the beginning of time. No matter the chest size, we need to learn to accept the goods we got. Push ‘em up if you have to, or hide them under a sweater if that’s what makes you feel most comfortable.
At the end of the day, you’re in charge of your body. If you want to see a change in the chest area, go for it! Hit the gym and utilize your resources. Don’t be afraid to use the weight machines or ask a trainer for assistance.
Gain confidence in your girls, no matter the size.
