The Beauty of Viewing Food as an Art Form

Food has always been used as a form of expression. From intricate dishes at Michelin star restaurants to family recipes passed down through generations, food offers endless opportunities for creativity. In recent years, people have taken this concept to the next level by creating works of art out of their food. Making lattes, decorating cakes and designing elaborate charcuterie boards are just a handful of ways people create art out of their food.

Bread Design Trend

One food-art trend that has gained popularity is on homemade bread. Bakers create designs on bread by either slicing the crust or painting it with edible paint before its cooked. The result? Food that looks almost too beautiful to eat. This trend emphasizes how food can be more than just nourishment for our bodies; it also be a form of art that brings us joy and satisfaction.

What Cooking Says About You

Although painting on bread is a recent trend, there are so many other ways that cooking, baking, and drink-making can be associated with art. In fact, your preferences say something about your personality. For example, if you prefer cooking, you probably tend to be more spontaneous and creative. You enjoy experimenting with new flavors and ingredients. You don’t always want to follow the recipes strictly, and you like to add your own twist each dish. You’re probably the wild-card of your friend group and are always coming up with fun ideas and adventures to go on.

Bakers, on the other hand, tend to be more detail-oriented and precise. If you prefer baking over cooking, you enjoy the process of sticking to a recipe and a picture-perfect end result. If you enjoy baking, you’re probably the mom of your friend group. You love to have fun, but you also like to stick to the plan.

When it comes to drink making, your preferences can also say something about your personality. If you prefer making cocktails (or mocktails), you’re probably artsy and creative. You love to try new things and aren’t afraid to be bold. If you prefer making barista-styled Starbucks drinks from home, you’re detail-oriented and focused on the process. You enjoy the precision of making the perfect latte. You’re a determined and ambitious person who loves to see your hard work come to life.

Psychology Behind Satisfaction

Regardless of which type of food or drink art you prefer, many people enjoy the feeling of reward and satisfaction that comes from creating something beautiful and tasty. In fact, there’s some psychology behind why we feel this way. The repetitive motions often needed for cooking, such as stirring a whisk or chopping with a knife, can activate your brain to release dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter that’s associated with the feeling of reward. When we cook and bake, we’re not just making food; we’re also creating a sense of accomplishment that can be just as satisfying as the taste.
