NYFW 2024 Recap

This past February, many distinct brands displayed their collections throughout New York. From Helmut Lang to Thom Browne, there was a mix of simplistic details and loud pieces. VALLEY is here to sum up the chaos for you. Let’s get started.

Not Just Stilettos

There were a number of brands that showcased their models strutting in more than just the average heel. For example, a number of shoes for Kim Shui were constructed with fur.

This is an exemplary outfit from the recent Fall Winter 2024 collection. Whereas normal pink stilettos would have sufficed, they took it a step further by introducing furred piping. This, in turn, helped the look stand out even more and added extra shape.

Look #37 for Area February 2024

This outfit is another example of a brand straying away from the dredged heel. Area displayed multiple types of footwear during their show. The chosen shoes for each look were either Mary Janes or platforms.

Alex Consani and Colin Jones are two models that have taken NYFW by storm. Both of them are known for their eccentric personalities on TikTok, but their runway walks are on a whole other level.

You know it’s a good walk when their ankles appear to be breaking. Jones’ runway strut is a powerful mix of stomping and posing. This worked perfectly for the recent Ludovic De Saint Sernin show, as who wouldn’t serve in an all-leather fit?

As with Jones’ runway walk, Consani’s is just as striking. She walked in the recent Helmut Lang show, and her strut was slightly more conservative to match the brand’s vibe. However, no matter what a show’s aesthetic is, Consani’s and Jones’ mere appearances are guaranteed to make it unforgettable.

All Eyes On Them

Over the course of the week, there were a few looks that stood out to VALLEY. Whether you love them or hate them, there’s no looking away.

Look #28 for Falguni Shane Peacock

While there were multiple outfits from the brand that were beaded, no other dress appeared to be in pain. The vivid red splash of embroidery was stitched on top of a light sparkled pattern.

To finish, pink ruffles were added at the bottom and the dress was paired with leather platforms. This look can’t be forgotten.

Look #19 for Altuzarra February 2024

As with the other look from Falguni Shane Peacock, red was a common theme. This model was strutting in the “pant-less” look, with crimson tights, coat, purse and small bottoms. The black bow flowed out beyond her hips which elongated her legs. Red and black surely stand out as a color pairing, and Altuzarra took advantage of that opportunity.
