How To: Magically Make Your Own Disney Treats

Just because Walt Disney World is currently closed, that doesn’t mean you can’t snack on your favorite WDW treats! In light of the current pandemic, Disney has released some of their fan favorite recipes from the WDW parks on Disney Parks Blog, so fans can magically make their own treats right at home.

Dole Whip

Missing the iconic Magic Kingdom Dole Whip? Look no further, because Disney released an at-home recipe for the infamous pineapple dessert on the My Disney Experience app.

What You’ll Need
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
  • 4 ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 cups frozen pineapple
What You’ll Do
  1. Blend pineapple, ice cream and juice from low to high speed.
  2. Make sure to blend until smooth. (You’ll want a thick consistency.)
  3. Scoop into your favorite WDW cup or bowl and enjoy!
Churro Bites

If you’ve ever chowed down churro bites at Walt Disney World, your sweet tooth will be pleased to hear that Disney officially released its churro recipe on the Disney Parks Blog.

What You’ll Need
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ cups vegetable or canola oil
What You’ll Do
  1. Boil water until rolling by combining butter, salt and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon in 1 ½-quart saucepan over medium heat. Then, reduce heat to low.
  2. Add flour and stir until the ingredients form into a ball. Turn down the heat and let it sit for 5-7 min.
  3. One at a time, add 3 eggs and stir until combined.
  4. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat (or until the temperature reaches 350 degrees), heat the oil.
  5. Spoon dough into a piping bag with a large star tip and pipe 1-inch strips of dough over the saucepan. Cut the strips of dough with a knife and drop into the hot oil.
  6. Repeat until the churro bites fill the saucepan.
  7. Fry churro bites until golden brown.
  8. Coat the churro bites with a mixture of sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon until throughly coated. Enjoy!

These cookie fries — which can be found at the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort — are just one way that Disney has implemented its new plant-based dishes. And with Disney Parks Blog’s recipe, you can try them out for yourself!

What You’ll Need
  • 2 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • ½ cup plus one tablespoon plant-based margarine, softened
  • 7 tablespoons water
  • 5 tablespoons liquid egg substitute
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • ½ cup dairy-free mini chocolate chips
What You’ll Do
  1. Combine flour, powdered sugar and plant-based margarine in an electric mixer and beat on medium speed until smooth.
  2.  Combine warm water and egg substitute. Mix the egg substitute and molasses in an electric mixer until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Place in an 8×8-inch pan and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 
  4. Preheating the oven to 325 degrees, line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Cut 32 ¼-inch wide and 4 inches long strips and place 16 strips on each baking sheet. 
  6. Bake for 20-22 minutes. Enjoy!
Toy Story Land’s Grilled Cheese

To infinity and beyond good grilled cheeses! You can make your very own WDW grilled cheese — which can usually be found in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — right at home with this recipe from Disney Parks Blog.

What You’ll Need
For the Cream Cheese Spread:
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoon coarse salt
For the Garlic Spread:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon coarse salt
For the Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich:
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 8 cheddar cheese slices
  • 8 provolone slices
What You’ll Do

For the Cream Cheese Spread:

  1. In a food processor or a hand mixer, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, heavy cream and salt and set aside.

For Garlic Spread:

  1. In a small bowl, combine and stir mayonnaise, garlic and salt and set aside.

For the Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich:

  1. Place 2 slices of cheddar cheese on 4 bread slices.
  2. Placing 2 slices of provolone on the other 4 bread slices, spread the cream cheese spread on each slice of provolone.
  3. Putting the cheddar side and provolone side together, heat a large skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  4. Spread the sandwich with the garlic spread and grill for 2 minutes on each side. Enjoy!
Disney’s Grand Floridian’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

There’s nothing like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s famous chocolate chip cookies. In honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, the chefs at the Grand Floridian shared their recipe on Disney’s Parks Blog.

What You’ll Need
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ sticks butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
What You’ll Do
  1. Preheating the oven to 330 degrees, sift flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine butter, brown sugar and powdered sugar. Using an electric mixer, add cream and stir until fluffy.
  3. One at a time, add 2 eggs into the mixer. Add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. Add flour mixture and stir in chocolate chips.
  5. On an un-greased baking sheet, scoop 1 tablespoon dough for medium cookies and 2 tablespoons for large cookies. Bake for 10-12 minutes for medium cookies and 12-14 minutes for large.
