HAGS!

As kids and young teens, you would peer down at your yearbook and see HAGS, written out in all uppercase letters. It means “Have a great summer,” but it was more than that. It was a glimpse into the sunny hot days that were quickly approaching and Penn State, and we have just about reached that time. So let’s look back at some of this semester’s greatest articles and tips so that you can HAGS!

Beauty and Health

Want a refreshing summer dish that your guests and you will be sure to love? Well, then let’s look back at Vanessa Hohner’s “Can’t Believe It’s Not Lettuce.” In this article Vanessa will give you tips and recipes on delicious salads that don’t include lettuce. Will definitely be making the Poppyseed Berry Fruit salad for beach days.

You’ve been meaning to freshen up your look and face so you can have a picture perfect Instagram for the summer? I suggest you check out “Lose the Baggage (Under Your Eyes)” by Gabriella Vitabile. Gabriella gives us great ideas on how staying hydrated and getting enough sleep every day can keep the under eye bags away.

Speaking of freshening up your look for summer, you should definitely read “Jane Austen Bangs” by Katie Dallas if you need some new hair inspo. Kiera Knightley can pull them off (so can you!)

And while we’re on the topic of hair, don’t be afraid to try an at home cure for those dry split ends. You should read “Rosemary: A Natural Hair Remedy” by Sofia Wagner for ways to improve your hair “from scalp to ends.”

Fashion

Now that you’ve got your new beauty routines established, let’s up your game with tips from some of the best fashion articles this past semester.

Let’s start with Abby Giordano’s piece “Styling for Summer: 2025 Must-Haves.” Here at VALLEY, we do our research, so go ahead and use Abby’s story as a guide for WDIWTS (what do I wear this summer?) It will save a lot of time and extra headaches, because we know you’ll already have one from the tweas.

Similar to Abby’s piece, Sophia Taberne’s “Summer 2025 Trend Predictor: What You Need To Be Shopping For” will keep you up to date on what’s trending before it hits the internet. Read this and you’ll go from”fashion maven” to “trend-setter.”

Now that your clothes are covered, let’s accessorize. For a cute yet sophisticated look, think ties! Read “Mastering the Knot: Women Who are Redefining the Tie” by Ginger Lyons for tips on how to dress like Hannah Berner, Zendaya, to even Bella Hadid.

Or, what about some sick sunglasses with “Find Your Frames” by Emily Jones (hint: cat eye is in!)

And of course, what would be an outfit without some sparkly jewelry to bring it all together. Check out Paula Gil’s article “Make a Statement: The Power of Bold Jewelry” for some inspo!

Self-Improvement

Lastly, VALLEY wanted to touch on some of the best self-improvement articles of the semester, so you can mentally prepare for summer.

Starting off strong with Abbie Rice’s piece! Didn’t book that summer internship? All good! “Summer 2025 Bucket List” gives you amazing ideas on how to fill the tropical days. From camping tips to cliff jumping, Abbie gives great suggestions on what to do with family, friends, and for the introvert, by yourself!

Bummed you’re stuck in your hometown this summer? Read Chloe Bland’s “‘Call Me By Your Name’ Summer” and get ideas on how to transform “outside of Philly” to Italian dreamland.

If it’s the summer of “locking in” VALLEY suggests “30 Days of Change” by Brenda Lo. Pick one thing: meditation, going to the gym, journaling and stick to it for 30 days straight, it might open your mind to things that make you feel good, especially when you didn’t know they could.

And lastly, an ode to all the single ones this summer. Hot girl summer is upon us. Take these few months to be your best badass self. Need some help with that? Read “Chronically Single? Date Yourself Instead” by Mariana Puerta or “Breakup With Your Ugly Boyfriend” by Alexa Passaro. Who needs men? As pop-star Miley Cyrus said “I can buy myself flowers.” Make this your summer.

Entertainment and This Just In

Don’t forget to check out VALLEY’s Entertainment and This Just In section to be up to date on all pop-culture and real-world events before summer!

Well, Penn State, that’s all we have for this semester, it’s been an absolute pleasure! Enjoy your summer, because next thing you know you’ll be back here in August reading articles on how to beat the fall semester stress. HAGS!
