Formula for Connection: Quantum Entanglement Theory

The universe is really just poetry if you think about it. Our mere existence is poetic on its own — our bodies born of the same things as stars millions of years ago. Yet, our connection to the universe runs so much deeper. You’ve probably heard the phrase “everyone’s connected in some way” and scoff.

As wild as it sounds, we can find parallels between science and concepts of twin flames and red strings. There may be more to how much we actually share with the universe.

A Theory of Connection

Quantum entanglement theory states that particles of the same origin which were once connected, always stay connected — even when separated and across time and space. In practice, whatever happens to one particle, also happens to the other, even if they are millions of light years apart, thus seemingly breaking a fundamental law of the universe.

Albert Einstein himself had a hard time reconciling with this theory. Quantum mechanics already upends any preconception of reality as outlined by classical mechanics, and this theory appeared to go against Einstein’s own theory of relativity. To understand entanglement, it helps to know about quantum superposition, the idea that particles exist in multiple states at once (and that’s a whole other world). Quantum entanglement theory has a lot of potential as far as practical applications go, though the thought of it remains undeniably poetic.

On the Poetry of Existing

The idea of such entanglement is as terrifying as it is exhilarating. To think that humans, having come from the same stuff as the stars, born of the Earth, are essentially connected through the same. It’s science, but it can be a little disconcerting when you’re down here on Earth, on an planet that’s just a little speck in a wide vast darkness.

When you’re rushing through life, stop and remember, that stranger is as human as you are, cut of the same cloth and navigating the same universe for the first time. Perhaps this will teach us to be kinder people. When you feel isolated in this vast nothingness, remember that there is at least one other with whom you share an invisible link. Despite distance, our connections may be stronger than we think — even if the sheer idea seems to break the fundamentals of physics. What’s love if not a little rebellious?

Whatever Souls Are Made Of

The concept of quantum entanglement, though without scientific application, has been somewhat understood across cultures for centuries. There is a part of us that understands our connection to the rest of the universe and to the people in it. Those shared smiles or fleeting glances with strangers; that tingling sensation when you’re near someone that is strikingly familiar yet unknown. There is a language that we all speak, even if we haven’t quite figured it out yet. Your body senses it. Your soul knows.

Quantum entanglement is still not fully explained or understood by science, but therein lies the true beauty of the universe. Life cannot be encapsulated in one jar, nor can our connections be confined by space and time.
