E! is one of the most iconic news platforms for entertainment and celebrity content, which is why when the People’s Choice Awards comes along, it’s a very big deal in the pop-culture industry. VALLEY’s here to give you the run-down on the highlights you may have missed, shocking twists and incredible wins that occurred throughout the night.

The Red Carpet

No award show is complete without the iconic red carpet pre-show hosted by E!. All of our faves were in attendance, including Bachelor alum Tyler Cameron, Euphoria stars Zendaya and Storm Reid, P!nk, Jenna Dewan, The Kardashian sisters, Kris Jenner and so many more! If we had to choose our top three outfits of the night, we would give our awards to Lala Kent, who dressed in Affair, Jana Kramer, who dressed in KALMANOVICH and Doug the Pug. It is unclear at this time what Doug was wearing, but he looked stellar.

Honorees

There were three major honorees of the night: Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Aniston and P!nk.

Gwen Stefani accepted the award for the style icon of 2019, and the highlight of her speech was definitely when she told Blake Shelton that he was a babe.

Jennifer Aniston was the People’s Choice Icon of 2019. She was introduced by her good friend Adam Sandler, who raved over her beauty, talent, humor and kindness before he presented her with the award. A very touched Aniston took the stage and gave a humorous, yet extremely touching speech.

“If I have any claim to this word ‘icon’ it’s only because I was on an iconic show, with an iconic cast and an iconic haircut,” says Aniston in reference to “Friends.”

P!nk was the final major honoree of the night and was named the People’s Champion for her contributions to various organizations such as Autism Speaks and Planned Parenthood.

“There is so much to be done,” says P!nk. “I don’t care about your politics; I care about your kids. I care about decency and humanity and kindness. Kindness today is an act of rebellion. There are people who that don’t have what you have. Help them get it. There is a planet that needs help. It feels good to help. It feels powerful to help.”

Award Ceremony

Kevin Hart made his first public appearance since his car accident on September 1. Hart was the first win of the night, taking home the People’s Choice Award for best comedy act of 2019.

“First and foremost, thank God because I definitely don’t have to be here,” says Hart in his acceptance speech. “Being that I am, it makes me appreciate life even more. It makes me appreciate the things that really matter. Family.”

“Avengers: Endgame” took home three titles: Best Action Movie and Best Movie of 2019, and Robert Downey Jr. won for Best Male Movie Star of 2019 for his role in the film.

Cole Sprouse surprised yet excited us all when he won Best Drama Movie Star of 2019 for his role in “Five Feet Apart,” beating out nominees such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Zac Efron and Brad Pitt. Cole also took home the award for the Male TV Star of 2019.

The Comedy Movie Star of 2019 award went to the “internet boyfriend of 2019,” Noah Centineo, for his role in the Netflix rom-com “The Perfect Date.” Noah beat out critically-acclaimed actors and actresses in this category, including Rebel Wilson, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson and Mindy Kailing. Members in the audience were definitely confused by this win, and it didn’t go unnoticed. David Spade was captured with a confused look on his face as Centineo limped on stage with his new knee. It was definitely a curveball of a win, but we’re still happy for Noah!

Centineo wasn’t the only curveball of the night. Grey’s Anatomy, for example, lost twice to Stranger Things. Two of the cast members, Noah Schnapp and Caleb McLaughlin accepted the award on the shows behalf when they won for Best Drama of 2019, and the two boys seemed a tad on the nervous side. It was honestly quite cute.

Ariana Grande lost not once, but six various times to Taylor Swift’s Lover for Best Album, Billie Eilish for Best Female Artist, Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello for Best Song, BLACKPINK for both Music Video and Tour and Ellen DeGeneres for Social Celebrity. Thank U, Next?
