DIY: Easy Valentine’s Day Gifts

If your savings account doesn’t leave room for you to spoil everyone you love this Valentine’s Day, these inexpensive do-it-yourself Valentine’s Day gifts are sure to do the trick.

Mason Jar Candle Holders

What you’ll need:

Mason jar

What to do:

1. Create a heart pattern to stick it to the mason jar. Tip: Use a sticky note so your heart shape will stick to the jar without any additional tape.

2. Evenly coat the mason jar with glue using a paint brush. Carefully brush glue around the heart shape to avoid any glue finding its way underneath the pattern.

3. Sprinkle glitter over the entire jar and be sure to give the jar a shake to remove any excess.

4. Allow a day for drying, and then carefully remove the heart pattern

5. Tie ribbon of choice around the rim of the mason jar and add a candle.

Valentine Rice Crispy Treats

What you’ll need:

Rice Krispies treats ingredients (Marshmallows, butter and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies® cereal)
Colored chocolate melting wafers

What to do:

1. Follow any Rice Krispies® treat recipe you have – a recipe is usually on the box of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies® cereal.

2. After rice krispies have been made, let them sit for five minutes to ensure they have set up.

3. Generously grease a heart-shaped cookie cutter and cut into the pan of rice krispies. Any remaining scraps can be sculpted into another heart-shape.

4. Let sit for 30 minutes and then melt chocolate melting wafers.

5. Decorate rice krispies with melted chocolate and sprinkles, allowing them to harden.

6. Once chocolate has hardened, place each sweet treat into a bag and tying with a ribbon.
