DIY: Bleached Tailgate Tank

When football season rolls around, one of the biggest questions you have to ask yourself every Saturday morning is, what do I wear? If you’re looking to turn your boring blue t-shirt into more of a fashion statement, Valley has your perfect solution — and it’s DIY, so it fits in your college student budget!

What To Do

1. To create this bleached masterpiece, grab any blue Penn State shirt and lay it on a flat surface. Since you’ll be working with bleach, it’s best to do this outside. Try to avoid getting bleach on your hands, or wear a pair of gloves to protect your skin.

2. Pour bleach into a bottle that will allow you to drip the bleach on the shirt. An empty hand sanitizer bottle works great!

3. Next, drizzle the bleach on the front and back of the shirt in any design you want. The bleach will appear orange on at first, but after sitting for a while it will turn white. After letting the shirt dry, run it through the wash to rinse out the excess bleach.

4. Finally, feel free to get creative with the way you cut your shirt. Leave the collar on and cut a triangle out of the front for a choker-cutout look. The bleached design is also complimented with a halter. But, you can never go wrong by cutting off the sleeves and making your shirt a tank top! Wear a lacy bralette underneath to add a flirty flair to your tailgate look.
