Shoes are a girl’s best friend, and that’s a fact. They have limitless possibilities and never let you down. They also have the rare super power to take your outfit from zero to high fashion faster than Joan Rivers can call you out on The Fashion Police. One of the most popular (and equally daring) shoe trends as of late? Socks with heels.
I know, I know. It sounds just as bad as crocs with a dashing pair of argyle knee-highs. But when given the chance, the socks-and-heels combo has the potential to take you to the big leagues of fashion.
“This trend is quirky and chic at the same time. You can wear high-top wedge sneakers, high heels or wedges with it and mix it up. It can go with any outfit. It’s a really cute trend,” explains Metro sales associate Quish “Q” Lambright.
Starting out with a simple yet cute outfit can help alleviate some newbie nerves when it comes to this eclectic pairing. But for a bolder look, don’t be afraid to kick it up a notch and go fancy. Couple your heels with sheer thigh-highs and a structured dress to give it a more demure vibe.
“If you want to go girly and breezy for spring, pair the shoes with a graphic tee, a cardigan, and high-waisted shorts. You can pair the knee-high socks with standard heels or open-toed wedges. It’s still light, but it’s still that seasonal transition look. To make it even more high fashion, wear socks that have fine details – like a pattern, or lace frills,” says Lambright.
If you’re looking to stand out this spring, take a gamble and give socks and heels a shot. You never know what you’ll find, and you may even stumble across a new signature look.
