Chalamet and Ronan: The New Hollywood Royalty

Everyone knows Leo and Kate, but now there’s Timothée and Saoirse. The new age of Hollywood royalty has come with Timothee Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan front and center. After staring in Lady Bird together in 2017, Chalamet and Ronan have become the new power duo of the entertainment business.

Chalamet got his start in acting at a young age in a handful of TV and movie appearances, most notably being Matthew McConaughey’s son in Interstellar in 2014. He also starred alongside Steve Carell in Beautiful Boy in 2018. Chalamet then became a household name after starring in Call Me by Your Name, which he was then nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2018. 

Ronan got her start in a similar way, acting in both TV and film which her most notable role was Briony in Atonement, which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also starred in The Lovely Bones and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Chalamet and Ronan began their work together in 2017 when they were both cast in Lady Bird, directed by Greta Gerwig. The film itself was a wild success, getting nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress (for Ronan). Chalamet was cast as one of the boys that Ronan’s character was romantically involved with. They were only in a few scenes together, but the chemistry between Ronan and Chalamet stole the picture.

Due to their chemistry in Lady Bird, it’s no surprise that Greta Gerwig cast them as Jo March and Theodore “Laurie” Laurence in her upcoming remake of the classic novel Little Women. Surrounded by a star studded cast that includes, Emma Watson, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep the movie has caused an uproar of excitement and only the first trailer has been released. Even after just one trailer, people are staying that Chalamet and Ronan’s chemistry is unmatched in this movie.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly for their cover shoot, Ronan and Chalamet both advocated for women in film. Ronan discussed how important the camaraderie between women is at the current time and how men exist in that world as well. “What’s so lovely about Little Women is that all of the men in this story love the women and only want to support them, adore them and be with them,” Ronan said in the interview.

At this day and age, it’s vital to have people in the public eye that support such important movements in the entertainment industry and in every facet of life. Both Ronan and Chalamet make it clear that they want to move the industry they work in forward.

For their Entertainment Weekly cover shoot, Ronan and Chalamet sport outfits that seem to be genderless. Chalamet in a more feminine shirt with ruffles along the collar while Ronan wears an open blazer and work pants paired with stilettos. It is clear from their outfits that they both want to create something that both men and women can identify with in this shoot.

Chalamet and Ronan have begun setting new standards in Hollywood, majorly centered around equality of men and women and bringing everyone together within the entertainment industry.
