Ever since the rise of TikTok, people have been sharing all kinds of things with each other online. One of the best things to come out of this is the makeup tricks, tips and hacks that have been circulating on the app. From blush to mascara to eyeliner, all kinds of makeup recommendations have been popularized due to the fact that they work so well. VALLEY has gathered some of the best of these tips. Read on to find out more.

1. 60s Mascara for Bottom Lashes

Ever since the release of Rare Beauty in 2020, Selena Gomez has become the newest makeup mogul in the industry. She also happens to be very active on TikTok. In June of 2022, Gomez hopped on the app to share her makeup routine with fans. One part of the video, in particular, caught the eye of the public — her 60s mascara hack. In the video, Gomez takes a pair of tweezers, dips them in the Rare Beauty mascara, and applies them onto her bottom lashes one by one. She squeezes a couple of lashes together with the mascara, creating a look of uber-thick bottom lashes. This mascara look is very reminiscent of the 60s and inspired users to try it themselves.

2. Liquid Blush Application by Hand

Speaking of Rare Beauty, you must’ve heard of the now-famous Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. Fans are obsessed with the color, easy application, and pigment of this product. One hack for this product was popularized on the app a while ago, making the application of this product even smoother and easier. The trick is, instead of dotting the pigment on your face, put it on your hand instead. Apply the blush to the palm of your hand, just under your thumb, and then rub those two parts of your hands together. The final step is to dab your face with the blush, effectively applying it to your face.

3. Siren Eyes

By now, everyone has to have seen the dark feminine makeup look — the siren eye. This look draws extra attention to your eyes, but with a darker and sexier twist. To achieve this look, simply do regular eyeliner with a wing on the end. Then, draw a line around the inner corner of your eyes, elongating your eyes and accentuating their shape. Then you’ve achieved a killer nighttime look, perfect for going out on the town.

4. Concealer for a Lifted Look

Contour is an extremely popular way to bring out your bone structure and lift your face. But did you know that concealers can accomplish this too? To achieve a lifted face look, simply apply your concealer at an angle beside your eye, under your eye, next to your nose, and under your cheekbone. See below for application. By the end, you’ll have gotten a facelift in just a few seconds using makeup.

5. More Effective Contour Application

In a popular video on TikTok, one user teaches viewers how to properly apply contour. She says that the most popular way to do it actually won’t get the job done very well, and you’ll end up with an overly blended, ruined makeup look. She states the best way to apply contour in a series of steps. First, you take the contour directly on your brush. Then, you spray the brush with your makeup setting spray. Third, you apply the contour to your face not by rubbing, but by dabbing it. Finally, you blend it out a little bit for a more cut, blended look.
