Tired of avocado toast? Are overnight oats boring you? No need to worry, another healthy recipe has stolen the taste buds of fitness, health and beauty gurus all over TikTok.
The Face Behind The Fad
The infamous cucumber salad was introduced by TikToker @Logagm, otherwise known as Logan Moffitt, and his fixation with the fruit showed the world that cucumbers don’t just have to go in your water.
Although he has introduced so many new recipes for his viewers to choose from, they all start with slicing the entire cucumber into a single quart packing container. That step alone created a viral trend across the app.
Logan begins every tutorial by saying, “Sometimes you just need to eat an entire cucumber!” This created a domino effect of influencers using the same introduction when trying it for themselves.
The cucumber connoisseur has now accumulated 6.4 million subscribers on TikTok and caught the attention of popular influencers like Alix Earle who took a stab at the recipe herself.
The “Earle Effect” contributed to the stardom of the recipe. She added a good review at the end of her TikTok and influenced a new set of fans to try it for themselves. When Alix Earle tries something, so does the rest of the internet.
A Simple ‘How To’
The opportunities with cucumbers have become endless. Logan Moffitt showed the world how to make an egg cucumber salad, Kani cucumber salad, salmon bagel cucumber salad and so much more.
The steps are really simple. Logan starts with slicing the entire cucumber and then layering on whatever else is desired. You can simply add some sour cream, seasoning, dressing or onions to make an otherwise bland cucumber an enticing meal.
Introducing Health Habits
Cucumbers are favored in their natural form, but they do not always cure those tasty cravings.
The enhancements to the cucumber salad are completely up for debate. However, the core of the salad provides a low calorie and high fiber option. Cucumbers provide vitamins and minerals, which are aspects of a healthy diet that are easily lost in processed foods.
The next time you are looking for a healthy snack high in both benefits and taste, try out this new obsession! There has even been a shortage in cucumbers lately — grocery stores and farmers markets seem to not have enough cucumbers for Gen Z! So, get yours now and give it a try.
